FAQs
Q: Where did you go to Art School?
A: My art education is mostly from years of practice, reading , studying, and a few classes in the fundamentals many years ago. No formal art education here. I followed my own curriculum. Mainly self taught.

A: Since 2004.
Q: How long have you been working out of your studio at Arc?
A: Since 2017
Q: How did you start painting in this realism style?
A: I discovered that painting sharp focus realism seemed to come more naturally to me when I was taking classes in painting fundamentals many years ago. I was also much more interested in developing the illusion of reality.
Q: Why do you have -flowers, balloons, succulents, marbles, etc- instead of actual faces?
A: For anonymity. I like to guide the viewer to look at the whole scene for the information and not necessarily to the face for the answers.
Q: Were you influenced by - Kahlo, Dali, Magritte, Delveaux…-?
A: Yes, absolutely, all of the above, and more were initial influences for the style of art that I do.
Q: Do you show your work in galleries?
A: Yes, I participate in art gallery shows as often as possible.
Q: Do you make prints of your work?
A: Not currently. Right now I am happy to create and offer one of a kind pieces.
Q: Do you do commissions?
A: Yes! See the Commissions page for more information.
Q: Where can I see more of your work?
A: I send a newsletter out about new work and upcoming shows. Subscribe to my email list below.
Q: Do you use AI, image projection, or digital software for your work?
A: No. I avoid AI imagery in the creation of my work and enjoy the challenge of rendering unusual and imagined subjects as organically as possible. I also hand draw and sketch my work on good old fashioned sketch pads and paper with no help from image projections.
Q: Do you sketch your art before you paint?
A: Very basic sketches. Mostly to remember the general idea and composition.
Q: Where do you get your inspiration and ideas?
A: By looking at things long enough to inspire alternate and imagined versions. I do a lot of staring. Take a look at the About page and J L King’s Artist Interview in 48 Hills Magazine for more answers.
